Revolutionary Supplement That Keeps Dog and Cat Teeth Clean.

Dog with mouth open

This Revolutionary Supplement Keeps Your Pet’s Teeth Clean Without Brushing

Most pets get tooth and gum disease.

Build up of plaque can cause tooth decay and gum disease in cats and dogs. This is likely occurring in your pets already if they have bad breath! It is extremely common. According to PetMD over 80% of pets over three years old get gingivitis.

Finally, a better option for cleaning pet’s teeth!

Most of us are only aware of two options for keeping our pet’s teeth clean. Those two options are expensive visits to the vet for cleaning under anesthesia or attempting to brush your pet’s teeth yourself or adding something to their water. Brushing at home can work but most pet parents (myself included) find it very difficult to keep up with especially if you have multiple pets! It can also be very difficult to accomplish if your pet didn’t get used to it from an early age. There are treats and water additives that claim to clean pet’s teeth but they are not enough to really get the job done. I don’t want to add anything to my cat’s water which may discourage them from drinking either.

After many painful cleaning sessions and tooth extractions for my cat I finally found something better. It actually works and now my veterinarian recommends it to everyone! I want to let people know about this since is so wonderful to have a solution to this chronic problem! I would like to share this revolutionary supplement that keeps dog and cat teeth clean.

PetAlive Gumz-n-Teeth

This supplement is made by the PetAlive brand and is made for both cats and dogs. It is called “Gumz-n-Teeth” and is made from all-natural ingredients such as silica and horsetail. It comes in capsule form. I twist the capsules apart and mix the powder into wet cat food twice per day.

You can purchase Gumz-n-Teeth on Chewy.

Pet Alive GumzNTeeth supplement

Some breeds are prone to tooth and gum disease regardless of food.

Some cats and dogs are more prone to tooth and gum disease. For example, orange tabbies like my boy are genetically prone to this awful condition. I say awful because he had such bad teeth he needed cleaning under anesthesia every year, had horrible breath and was getting teeth extracted each year as well! He was only 3-5 years old and I was afraid he would end up with no teeth left in a few years. The last time he had dental work done it was also very expensive. You will save money with this supplement! It is cheaper to give this to your cat every day than to have cleanings and extractions.

I decided I needed to find something better for my poor boy. After the last cleaning (which was almost three years ago!) I started giving him Gumz-n-Teeth mixed into his food every day. He has not had bad breath and has not needed tooth cleaning or extractions. This supplement has truly been miraculous for us and it works so well my veterinarian at Alaska Veterinary Clinic recommends it to her other pet parents!

Here are some of the great, all-natural ingredients:

  • Spirulina
  • Horsetail (herb)
  • Dandelion (leaf)
  • Silica

The bottle has dosage instructions for dogs and cats based on body weight. How handy is that, the same supplement can treat your dog’s and cat’s oral health and bad breath! If your pet’s teeth and gums are very bad you may still need to take them to the vet, but once they are checked out, start them on this amazing product.

Save hundreds of dollars and eliminate risk of anesthesia.

Please try Gumz-n-Teeth. It is under $20 when on sale and will last one cat for 4 to 5 months! That works out to 50$ to 60$ per year. That is much cheaper than the $750 we spent per year for tooth cleaning and extractions at the vet!! Now, just a few years later it would cost $1200 for the same procedure! You could get that vet service cheaper in some cases. For example we did optional blood work ahead of time to make sure he would not be at additional risk from anesthesia. However, that is pretty important and I think it was only about $60. Even if you did no blood work and your cat only had tooth cleaning rather than extractions, it will probably still cost hundreds of dollars! There is also the danger of putting cats under anesthesia. Especially as they get older, this gets increasingly risky and vets advise against it unless absolutely necessary. The alternative of not cleaning your pet’s teeth is also dangerous. Tooth and gum disease can lead to deadly infections and diseases. I hope you will check it out. It is a revolutionary supplement that keeps your dog’s or cat’s teeth clean, saves you money and keeps your pet healthy.

PetAlive also makes other amazing supplements such as Immunity and Liver Support which prevents upper respiratory infections in cats! This is another very common health condition especially in cats that have been in a shelter. It is highly contagious and cats will pass it around continually. If your cat gets goopy eyes, itchy ears, red eyelids or is sneezing, they probably have an upper respiratory infection. Our kitties went back and forth to the vet for a long time before I found Immunity and Liver Support. Here is a link to my review of this great product.

If you want to read about my home remedy for upper respiratory infections in cats, read this post.

    Jessica,
I have a rescue cat, a Maine Coon. She is loving, stays off my counters, and even tolerates my dogs. The only behavior she has that is unwanted is, she begs! non-stop, she is worse than my puppy.
Even if I give in to her begging and give her one of her treats, she just eats it and goes right back to her begging. She is driving me nuts!
And there is only one treat she will eat “Temptations” (other than fresh chicken strips which we have like once a year at most). You would think with a cat that begs for treats as much as she does, she wouldn’t be so picky.
Anyway loved your site, lots of useful information and tips.

      Hi Barbara,

My Norwegian Forest Cat (we think…he was a rescue) begs, as does my rescued French Chartreux. They are not as persistent as yours though and they beg for people food! I don’t have any great tips for this other than if you ignore them they will break the association eventually. One question that comes to mind though; what food do you give her? Could she be bored with her food or be craving more nutrients? Also, I know Temptations are addictive. My cats love them too! We only give them rarely though so they don’t expect them every day. I think of them as junk food or candy for cats. My cats were addicted to cheap cat food for awhile also before we found the Solid Gold brand. They love it and it is high quality, grain free and much healthier for them. If you want to look at it here is my review. If you found a dry food like that perhaps you could throw kernels of that dry food as a treat kind of like the Temptations. http://thrivingcat.com/what-is-the-best-grain-free

      Thanks for visiting!

Wow I never knew such a thing existed. Me and my girlfriend are planning on getting a cat sometime in the near future. Do you suggest we buy some of this supplement just in case. We are getting the cat as a kitten and raising it.

Let me know your input. Thanks

      William,

I have not used it on kittens. I would imagine it would not be necessary until they are adults but it wouldn’t hurt to start them on it as a young adult. I will see if I can find anything about using it on kittens if you would like!

I would definitely use it preventativly rather than waiting until there is a problem! It can save much pain, suffering and money at the vet! Our three cats get it twice per day in their wet food now.

The other supplements by the Pet Alive brand are wonderful as well. We use Immunity and Liver Support to prevent upper respiratory infections.

      Thanks for stopping by,

Thanks for your comment Trevor. Yes, it is really pretty easy to twist the capsules apart and mix the powder into wet food. I see there are other powdered supplements available but this would be the standard I would measure them against since it works so well!

Oh my gosh I think this will be perfect. Thank you for reviewing such an effective product. I will surely look into purchasing it. My dog has some bad breath and I’m starting to notice some plaque on his molars. I tried brushing his teeth but it is nearly impossible, he squirms so much. I think Gumz and Teeth are going to do just the trick. Thanks again!

    Hi Jessica,

Have you any idea how it works? I’m just wondering if it is changing their saliva (since they’re swallowing the capsules) or what it does that is reducing the plaque build up? The ingredients you mention (horsetail, dandelion and spirulina) seem to all be good for digestive and general health so I’m wondering why they seem to be so effective for teeth?
I don’t know if you can answer any of these questions but I’m just interested to find out more because it sounds amazing!
    Thanks, Rachel

      Hello Rachel,

I don’t know exactly how it works but the ingredients strengthen teeth and improve immunity. It really seems miraculous. It was part of the inspiration for me to start this website. It worked so much better than I imagined and is one of those rare products that I can say I trust 100% with my pet’s health. I am picky so I don’t believe in claims until I see them work for myself. I review many products on this site but the PetAlive Gumz n Teeth is my number 1 recommendation above all others.

      Thanks!

      Rachel,

Dandelion contains an amazing amount of vitamins including A, Bs, C and D and minerals such as zinc, magnesium, potassium, calcium etc.

Horsetail contains silica which strengthens teeth as well bones, skin and nerves. Silica is also used for gum health and is a natural cleanser.

Spirulina contains vitamins such as B12 and A which is used for healthy teeth and immunity and has been used in Chinese medicine for thousands of years!

These are just some of the benefits of these ingredients.

      I hope this helps!

I’ve been thinking about cleaning cat teeth lately. My boy is 18 months old and to be honest I didn’t really think about it until I noticed his breath starting to get a bit stinky. He’s pretty chill when it comes to things like nail clippings and taking pills, but I’m not sure I want to push my luck trying to brush his teeth! He’s a bit picky about what’s in his food though, can I just put it in his mouth instead of mixing it with food?

    1. Jessica (Post author)

      Shirley,

You can give the whole capsule to a dog but I think that is too much for a cat. The directions say you can give a half capsule twice per day. I only give them less than a quarter however since they are on it permanently. I mix two capsules (empty the powder out) into their wet food which lasts for three meals for three cats. We mix in other PetAlive supplements as well (“Immunity and Liver Support” to prevent upper respiratory infections etc) and keep it in a container in the refrigerator so it is ready to go.

So one capsule actually lasts 4.5 meals for our cats. I don’t know how much more I could give them but maybe you could try this kind of smaller amount and see what happens? Maybe it would be diluted enough your boy wouldn’t mind. Hard to say. It is very green colored and smells fresh and grassy. It seems very healthy for them. It is not medicinal smelling.

Let me know how it goes!

      Thanks for your question,

      Jessica

hongGreat information on using supplements to maintain pet’s oral hygiene. I have never had a dog or a cat and I had no idea they even needed oral hygiene. What surprised me was that some dog owners even brush their pet’s teeth at home; I thought animals don’t need that. I guess you learn new thing every day. I have a friend that has a dog and she loves animals, I will show this article to her. Very interesting article. Thank you for sharing!

      Hello Hong,
Part of the problem is the modern diet dogs and cats get now consisting of dry foods. Those work on their teeth the same way grains would decay and rot our teeth if we didn’t brush them. Even if we feed our pets canned wet food instead, they are not getting the abrasion of bones and fur that they would get in a wild diet that would help clean the teeth.

Tooth and gum disease is very common with most pets getting it now and can lead to many health problems like kidney failure which my first cat died of. I wish more people were aware of this great supplement. I would have given it to my dogs and first cat if I had known about it.

Thank you for your comment and sharing this information.

    Hi Jessica- great post!
Our calico Alberta seems like a perfect patient for both the gums & teeth and the immunity & liver support for upper respiratory issues. She sneezes frequently, struggles with rough breathing at times, and drools a lot, much of the time. The vet has cleaned her teeth a few times, pulled a few teeth and he prescribes steroids, which are hard to get down her, but they do help. These would be easy to try, because unlike Chip (our alpha cat) she eats wet food, and prefers it.

You mentioned sale prices below $20, but currently both of these supplements are priced at $35.06 per bottle; I’m eager to find out how often these sales happen. Can you suggest a strategy for trying to get them on sale?

      Hi Steve,
I do not know how often or when they will go on sale. I really wish I did! Perhaps I can ask.
If you are interested, Amazon has a combo pack with both of these supplements together which would save about $18 off the prices now. Here is my link for it. http://amzn.to/2qPKFsy

I can’t recommend Gumz-n-Teeth enough. It has been years since our boy has had to go back to the vet for his teeth though he is probably due now.
Speaking of rough breathing, our boy has had that lately too. We are using yet another PetAlive supplement that seems to be helping. It is called Respo-K. It is available as part of a combo from Amazon but not individually right now. I ordered mine from Only Natural Pet. Just want to let you know even though I don’t sell it yet! We are giving it to our girl who gets ear infections also. It is helping both of them without the need for the vinegar every day. You really should try the vinegar for instant help though. Just get apple cider vinegar with the “mother” in the bottle. Dilute it 50/50 with water and dab it on their fur and skin around the head and neck and on the top of the paws/legs where they can lick it off. It really helps all sorts of respiratory/eye/ear problems.

Here is my post which explains the vinegar method and has the link to the combo pack with Gumz-n-Teeth and Immunity and Live Support: https://thrivingcat.com/home-remedy-for-cat-colds

      Thanks!

Hi Jessica, We got the combo pack supplements today, and began checking them out at close range. I’m curious about the warning to limit usage if your pet is chipped. Both our cats have ID chips, so we need to keep usage under 6 weeks. I’m not sure if this means 6 weeks total during the life of the cat, 6 weeks per year, or what.
I’ve not seen this restriction before so I’m curious; any idea why this limitation is related to a chip implant?
        Thanks,
        Steve

          Hi Steve,
I addressed this in my first post about this product here: https://thrivingcat.com/natural-supplement-for-bad-breath-in-cats-and-dogs-helps-tooth-and-gum-disease

Thank you for your question. I contacted the company and asked about this, talked to my vet and have been giving updates on the post. So far all three of my cats have been on Gumz-n-Teeth for 2.5 years every day with no side effects. I took them off of it when I first got worried about that warning but their teeth quickly got bad again and after doing my research I am very comfortable to keep them on it now.

I know what happens if they don’t have it. Tooth and gum disease is pretty hard to avoid and the dangers are potentially deadly. My first cat ended up with kidney failure which could have been due to bad teeth according to the vet. My boy had terrible teeth already at only 2 years of age. He would be at extremely high risk spending a lifetime with this condition and I don’t want any cat to have to go through the pain, anesthesia, tooth extraction, and potential diseases associated with this terrible disease.

The warning is due to an abundance of caution not based on something that has actually ever happened. I think it is a way for the company to make sure they are not liable for anything that could potentially happen. Since I know there is absolute danger in not treating tooth and gum disease, this tiny risk of the chip moving around is not much of a concern for me.

If you were concerned about it I would say try it for a while then take a break before you start up again.

          Thanks for your question Steve!

As a family that loves pets, we have a couple of cats and dogs, which we care for dearly as part of our family. And since we love hugging and kissing them, we make sure to keep their mouths clean. But we can’t afford to bring them to the vets regularly  so we try brushing their teeth regularly. However, it’s a always a struggle doing this, I guess because of the discomfort it gives them. Anyway, we tried giving them something to bite on and play with to kind’a brush their teeth but a supplement sounds like a great idea.

I think $20 every 4-5 months for each pet is a good deal already. So one capsule twice a day, I was just thinking, can I reduce it to one capsule a day instead?

    Reply
    1. Jessica (Post author)

      Hello Alice,

The dose for a dog is 1 capsule twice per day. For a cat it is half a capsule twice per day. I actually give my cats less than this amount however. They still get it twice per day but it is a smaller amount each time. So, yes, a lower dose still helps. I am sure any amount is helpful even if it is a smaller dose.

If you only gave half the amount to a cat you could still divide it between two doses since you don’t give them the whole capsule. Just sprinkle the powder on their wet food. For a dog that gets the whole capsule you could either give one per day, or do the same as with cats and put the powder in smaller amounts on their food.

Thank you for your interest in keeping your pet’s teeth clean and thank you for stopping by,

Thank you this was very informative. I always wanted to know if household pets could have dental problems seeing as how they do not practice dental hygiene as we do. My sister plans on getting a cat in the next few months and rather than having dental issue happen. The best thing to do is to prevent the issue before it happens and I enjoy how this product uses all natural ingredients. That is always the better option to choose.

    Hallo there Jessica,

I recently found that my cat has gingivitis and I have been trying all the solutions I can put my hands on to see that this issue is solved once and for all. The thing is, the vet told me that there are chances my cat may have another tooth extracted if nothing is done to handle the situation and I wouldn’t want that to happen again. Your recommendation seem pretty fair considering the effectiveness you say it has, the very affordable price as well as how long it serves the cat. It is definitely something I am going to try and see how it works out for my cat. I will give you feedback after a few weeks. Thanks a lot for the help.

If your cat has a tooth that is already close to needing extraction, this supplement may not be enough. It is hard to say though. In any case, this supplement will help your cat have cleaner, healthier teeth.
